Artist (*1976)

Isabela Grosseová (*1976) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU). After finishing her studies, she completed internships at the studios of Josef Pleskot and Vito Acconci. Her graduate project, the work Obytné obrazy (Residential Pictures), connected an interest in analyzing the living space and its limitations, which is reflected in her visual art. In 2020 she completed her doctorate at the Academy of Fine Arts, which was dedicated to the question of the application of artistic competencies by graduates of AVU. Over the course of these studies, she prepared a number of exhibitions, such as Competence (Fotograf Gallery, 2016), I wasn’t at all interested in exhibitions (GAVU, 2016), Penetration (Entrance Gallery, 2017), and An Unlived Life; Spying on Reproduced Work; Exhibiting Employment (Jelení Gallery, 2018). Since October 2020, with Dominik Lang she has co-headed the Studio of Sculpture at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague. She has also collaborated long-term with Jesper J. Alvaer. They have presented together at exhibitions such as Transkultura: Akt 1 (Moravská Gallery, Brno, 2006), Figure and Ground (Bunkier Sztuki, Krakow, 2007), Competence (Fotograf Gallery, 2015), Pre-, Pre-, Pre-, Pre- Preview (sam83, Česká Bříza, 2019), and most recently The Exhibition as Alibi (2020) at Display, the Association for Research and Collective Practice in Prague. With David Fesl she co-edited the publication Afterlife of an Exhibition (AVU, 2019). She led the curatorial program of the AVU Gallery in 2018.
