Nonutilitarian School II - Artist’s presentation of archive document “Ambroz – the picture in the picture"
In the frame of the Work Project: NONUTILITARIAN SCHOOL – JOSEF DANĚK, BLAHOSLAV ROZBOŘIL AND BARBORA KLÍMOVÁ
As soon as children are born, as soon as they enter our world, know everything about it and don’t need to learn a thing.
The only problem is that they’ve hardly left their mother’s lap when a host of big-hearted females surround them, lean over the newly born and start in with their cooing: COO COO COO COO. The child is left speechless with fear. For more than a year the child is unable to utter a sensible work, so in the beginning he just lies there and inarticulately cries. Rehabilitation following the birth-shock goes on for years. A Nonutilitarian teacher's objective is to help everyone on this arduous journey.
Prologue from the programme of a Nonutilitarian teacher
The programme will feature the screening of an archive film that was made at an exhibition opening at the Drug Store of Products on Offer Gallery in spring 1989. A number of levels of time and meaning come together in the film and in the current space. (The film is screened with the kind permission of cameraman Aleš Záboj and the initiators of the Drug Store of Products on Offer Gallery Petr Oslzlý and Rostislav Pospíšil) The creators of the Nonutilitarian education system, Blahoslav Rozbořil and Josef Daněk, speak about the possibility to repeatedly enter into old contexts, about the meaning of religious and state holidays and about other important matters that go through permanent transformations and yet always remain the same.
