Helena Mustakallio graduated from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague, and the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University in Brno. She also studied for two years at the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague. In recent years she has focused on financial and grant management in the field of art and culture, mainly in projects with an international orientation. She is primarily interested in the taxation of artistic activities and in international taxes and grants. From 2017–2020, she taught Financial Management and International Grants at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, and every year she organizes lectures for the Academy of Performing Arts and the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design on the topic of taxation in the arts. Additionally, she works as a dramaturge and creates her own theatre pieces focusing especially on the performativity of visuality and on the possibilities of the visual and performative reflection of identity and trauma. She occasionally writes, mainly publishing theatre critiques and analyses for the Theatre Newspaper.
