Lauri Toikka and Florian Shick:
Creating Type Foundries

The third lecture will be given by designers Lauri Toikka and Florian Shick, who, after successfully completing their studies at TYPE/MEDIA at the Royal Academy in Haag, founded their own studio in Berlin and Helsinki.

The Studio of Typography along with the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (VŠUP) has organized lectures focused on lettering and graphic design. Leading Czech and foreign type designers, professional and novice artists will be presenting their work at these hour-long lectures.

The lectures are divided into cycles with specific themes. The first cycle, which begins in November, will focus on “Creating Type Foundries”. The invited artists will speak of their own lettering, work and ideas. The lecture’s objective is a thematic discussion with the author and the audience.
