Incident in the Museum is a by-product of a research project on the relationship between art and power in the post-Soviet context, undertaken by VCRC in 2013. The film documents an incident that occured to the working group of the project during research at the Fine Art Museum in Kharkiv. This incident brings together many relations of power in art and politics – from Ivan the Terrible to Vladimir Putin, from Ilya Repin to Boris Mikhailov.

People Who Came To Power (2015, 17')

People Who Came To Power is a film based on the observation of Anti-Maidan in East Ukraine in 2014. In the film, this pro-Russian political movement is dissected by way of documentation of its activities, which led to the outbreak of war and the subsequent Russian invasion. Shot in March-April 2014 in Donbas, the film recreates gradual transition of the society from peaceful life to the state of war.


War in Kyiv (2016, 30')

War in Kyiv is an experiment in collective filmmaking, undertaken during a workshop by Artur Zmijewski at The School of Kyiv – Kyiv Biennial 2015. This video is an outcome of a filmic group conversation between the workshop participants. Each of the film's episodes is a statement in this conversation, or a response to another statement – using videos instead of words and sentences.

Oleksiy Radynski is a filmmaker and writer based in Kyiv. He is a participant of Visual Culture Research Center, an initiative for art, knowledge, and politics founded in Kyiv, 2008. His latest films include Landslide (2016) and People Who Came To Power (2015, with Tomas Rafa), which won the main prize in the national competition at Docudays International Film Festival in Kyiv. His films have been screened at Oberhausen IFF, Dok Leipzig IFF, e-flux (New York), SAVVY Contemporary (Berlin), and other venues. His talks and presentations have recently taken place at Berlinale Forum Expanded, Museum of Modern Art (New York), Shtab (Bishkek), Institute for Contemporary Arts (London), and Universität der Künste (Berlin). His texts have recently been published in e-flux journal, Political Critique, Regarding Spectatorship, Raznoglasiya and other publications.
