Open call for Erasmus+ internship for the position of Production and Curatorial Assistant

The position will mainly focus on production and preparatory work for the next edition of the Biennale Matter of Art 2022. This year, 2021, we will be hosting artist residencies for foreign residents who will then play a key role either as commissioned artists or as the curatorial working group of the biennale. The advertised position will encompass a wide range of individual tasks, mainly associated with production of the residencies, specifically communication agendas, logistics, minor administration tasks, and other practical tasks related to the residents and their programs. It also means taking part in our discussions and decision-making processes and planning different aspects of the preparation of the biennale. As tranzit.cz is an initiator and also a member of the Feminist (Art) Institution code initiative, we try to function as much as possible in a non-hierarchical structure, which means to be tolerant to everyone's social needs and to use a strategy of positive and non-violent communication to solve problems.

We offer a position where one can learn and delve into different aspects of production in the field of contemporary art, understand what cultural management means in practice, improve language, communication, and production skills, and work responsibly and collaboratively.

Some tasks which will be part of the job:
-communication with artists, curators, and the tranzit.cz team
-solving production challenges and logistics associated with the artist residencies
-assisting the Production Manager
-minor administration tasks

We are looking for someone who:
-is a master’s student or recent graduate of art, curatorial studies, or cultural management
-has some experience with curation or cultural production and management in any kind of venue (museums, contemporary art institutions, artist-run galleries, DIY projects)
-has a strong interest in contemporary art
-has great communication skills and the ability to overcome different types of practical challenges
-can solve individual tasks on their own and take responsibility for decision making
-is proficient in English (minimum level B2) – other language skills are welcomed

Please note that we will give preference to candidates who have knowledge, experience, insight, or at least honest interest in contemporary art and contemporary culture in general. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in an academic program that allows them to receive funding from Erasmus+ programs. The exact dates of the internship can be discussed individually.
