Barbora Kleinhamplová

board member /

Artist (*1984)

Conceptual and multimedia artist Barbora Kleinhamplová employs a performative dimension in her work which is closely related to the aspects of human existence in the context of current political-economical structures.
Kleinhamplová’s artworks reflect human group behavior, giving a psychological critique of social spaces while confronting traditional spaces. Fragmenting space using different elements of social groups, the artist employs metaphorical approaches to human beings often suffering from anxiety. She works in video, performance and installation.
Kleinhamplová’s work addresses the relationship between contemporary political and economic institutions and the diverse public they serve. She often collaborates with people from different disciplines and professions and uses existing forms of group interaction such as therapy and coaching sessions with actors and non-actors. Presented as videos and installations, these semi-staged situations are a means to examine and test what constitutes a functioning society, and what the role of an individual is within its systems.
Kleinhamplová conducts research on several interrelated topics such as relationships between humans and technology in an increasingly mediated reality, on how this affects the subject/object dichotomy and how this is reflected by the “precariat” in contemporary society.
