A2 Criticism Club: The tragic end of the Community of Writers. Does literary life need a new infrastructure?
Over the last few years the Community of Writers has experienced its most serious crisis since its formation in 1989. A panel discussion will attempt to locate the causes of this situation and sketch out the possible future operations of this organisation.
However, as a backdrop to the issue of the Community of Writers we will ascertain whether the revival of professional associations can improve literary production in the CR. As a consequence of the historical legacy we have to contend with scepticism towards institutions of this kind, even though they could improve the working conditions of writers. The discussion will be chaired by Jan Bělíček.
