The lecture given by Vladimír Hendrich examines the significance of the film director Rainer Wernera Fassbinder in the present day, especially the artist’s reflections on the period of Nazism and its legacy during the period of the German “economic miracle” and his depiction of authoritarian and xenophobic tendencies in modern capitalist society.

The evening will also look back at previous Czech discussions of student revolts and the Red Army Faction in Germany as portrayed in film, and will include a showing of Fassbinder’s film from the omnibus work entitled Germany in Autumn (1978). The evening will end with a public discussion.
