TRANZITDISPLAY ORGANISES ITS SECOND ANNUAL COMPETITION FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

As part of its educational activities, in the academic year 2013-2014 TD is organising the second annual competition for the most interesting student project that manages to present contemporary art as an everyday feature of our lives.

The winning project will be exhibited at the tranzitdisplay gallery in the second half of the academic year 2013/14 as part of the permanent programme and TD will support it with the sum of CZK 10,000.

The project can be a one-off event or a long-term concept. The competition is not restricted in any way. The project output can be the outline of a lecture, debate, exhibition, performance, or the use of contemporary media. The tranzitdisplay board will select the winner on the basis of the work submitted.
This year the prize was won by a project created by J. A. R. O., a group of AVU students. Over four weeks Kateřina Zochová, Matyáš Chochola, Alexandr Puškin and Janek Rous presented their project with the participation of many interesting guests:
“An attempt to evoke a feeling of overwhelming intuitive clarity through a four-part serial with many access points, outputs and procedures, which do not provide the truth but can still offer an answer to the question of why we are here.”

What should the project look like?
- Create a draft programme, debate, lecture, publication or other type of presentation aimed at introducing contemporary fine art to the general public, your fellow students or lecturers.
- Your intention and the means by which the presentation takes place are crucial.
- The maximum amount of support we can offer your project is CZK 10,000. We would be pleased if you could also find project financing from other sources.
- The duration and form of the project is not as important as its ability to show in an intelligible, interesting way what you are able to introduce of contemporary art.

As part of the exhibition TD offers groups of students and their lecturers the opportunity to go on guided tours of exhibitions underway free of charge. Students can acquire detailed information on the contemporary form of Czech and foreign art directly in a gallery environment. We also offer a lecture programme introducing contemporary Czech and foreign video art from the TD Mediatheque in the presence of an artist.

Please send your project proposals on a maximum of 1-2 standard pages to horak@tranzit.org by 5 January 2014 at the latest.

Suggested dates for visiting the TD educational programme may be sent to the same address. We will be happy to provide you with further information.
