Mats Stjernstedt is a curator and writer, since 2001 he is the director of Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation. It is a site for art production and distribution, a place where artistic and audience related experiments are carried out. The focus of Index is directed towards contemporary art and curatorial practice with the aim of providing a ground for creativity in a wider sense of the word. Each year Index produces
6 - 8 exhibitions in the gallery space, and in addition the space also promotes artistic expressions in various forms such as for instance screenings, performance, and workshops to influence the program with a certain mobility.
In September this fall Index will relocate to new premises, the lecture will present certain projects and exhibitions in selection as well as present a few ideas dealing with the future program of the new space.
